Pick Of The Crop Dance
HANSEL & GRETEL

STAGE FLOOR

1. Minimum playing space 38" wide X 33" deep (back wall to plaster line) X 26' tall (proscenium opening) + fly house (drop and legs must fly if Witch's House stores USC)
2. Company's major scenic pieces include:
Backdrop - 60 lbs - must fly - 26" Long X 60" High
Moon Box - 25 lbs - must fly - 42" Long X 42" High X 9" Deep
Witch's House - wagon unit - 54' Long X 14' High X 18" deep
Woodcutter's House * - 400 lbs.- 20' Long X 12' High X 18" Deep Woodcutter's House Backing * - 150 lbs - 12' Long X 18' High
 
· Optional - unit can be set up as wagon unit instead of flying unit
 
3. Wing space to accommodate larger scenic elements (woodcutter's house either flies or is gripped).
4. Space upstage of Company's backdrop for scenery storage. 6' minimum required between Company's backdrop and back wall. Witch's house unit stores in this area.
5. Fly space to accommodate scenic pieces mentioned above.
6. Professional quality, black dance floor covering entire playing space. Seams taped with black gaffer's tape (no substitutions please). When laying floor, floor should be stretched as much as possible to accommodate heavy rolling scenic elements. Floor should be laid, stretched and taped prior to Company's arrival.
7. Stage MUST be sprung wooden floor for dance. If dance floor covering is to be laid over concrete or non-sprung floor please contact Executive Director Curt Steinzor (716-833-0902) immediately to discuss other possible arrangements.
8. Company will need rolling "A" frame ladder 0 similar (for light focusing call), 2 - 10' ladders,and 2-6 'ladders (for scenery assembly).
9. Company will need 20 40# stage weights for weighting gripped and wagon scenic pieces. Fly weight additional.
10. Company asks for exclusive use of stage and associated spaces from initial load-in through the completion of load-out.
11. Please remove all unnecessary items from stage, wings, and upstage areas prior to Company's arrival due to large scenic units.
12. Loading door needs to accommodate 8'X 14'X 1' scenic pieces and a 24' truck.
13. The stage and associated spaces must be maintained at a temperature of 72 - 76 degrees F whenever dancers are present.

 

SPECIAL EFFECTS

1. Fog
A. Company travels with dry ice fog machine and chemical based fogger, as well as its own supply of chemical fog. Local Producer to provide 50# dry ice per performance.
B. Each of these 2 machines needs dedicated 20 amp output,
C. Chemical logger is controlled by Stage Manager from calling position on stage.

 

2. Pyro
A. Company travels with Pyro-Pak brand controller and 2 flash pots.
B. Run from Stage Manager's position on stage.
C. Needs dedicated 15 amp circuit.
D. Controlled by Company. Due to nature of this effect during the action on stage it is imperative that the Company operate this effect. (set-up, test, load, and strike). Thank you for your cooperation

WARM UP SPACE

1. Due to the large number of dancers (35) in the production, sufficient space for Company class and warm-up is necessary. It is preferable to have 2 separate spaces (one for principals and one for local dancers). These spaces become even more important when the stage is not available to the dancers during tech time on stage.
2. Each warm-up space is to have a sound system with cassette playback facilities.

LIGHTING

1. Venue lighting information (standard hang, inventory, dimmer capacity, console info) to be forwarded to Company upon signing contracts.
2. Company's plot/paperwork to be sent to venue 2 weeks prior to first performance date.
3. Basic requirements include:
2 Full FOH Washes (One Rx33/one Rx60) 1 Full Stage Pipe End Wash (4 lanes) Rx08)
1 Full Stage Pipe End Template Wash (4 lanes) (RX87)
2 Full Stage FOH Template washes
6-10' H booms with 4 fixtures Each (two top can be two-fered)
2 Strip Light washes on downstage side of Company's backdrop
4 Strip Light Washes in upstage side of Company's backdrop
2-10'Tall booms with 4 fixtures each in US wing for backdrop
2 Full Stage downlight washes (one Rx83/one Rx321 )
8 Specials from first electric
4 Specials from second electric
4 Specials from third electric
1 circuit upstage of Company's backdrop ,for Company's illuminated Moon Box company's plot to be hung, cabled, circuited, and patched prior to Company's arrival
Local Producer to provide all color and templates as specified in Company's plot/paperwork
Templates: 40 leaf break-up, 6 flame, 6 shatter (model numbers to be provided)
192 dimmers - 2.4KW capacity sufficient
Lighting control console (light board) must be a computer console with soft patch, part cue, and effects capabilities.
HANSEL & GRETEL has approximately 50 cues and 2 random chase effects. HANSEL & GRETEL uses 115 control channels
Lightboard Operator must be proficient in console operation (including programming).
Company requests same Operator from load-in through final performance. HANSEL & GRETEL uses one (1) follow spot with four (4) color boomerang, iris and dowser. Company requests same Operator for rehearsals and performances.
A center line spotter's light must be provided from the balcony rail position (or similar)in a color to contrast with auditorium's exit lights. This light must remain on for all rehearsals and performances.
No lighting changes or substitutions permitted without prior consent of Company's Lighting Designer, Kelly Maurer, 38 S. Perry Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

AUDIO

1. Front of house Audio:
A. Sufficient equipment to fill full house to 100dB with concert quality, full frequency reproduction
B. Stereo reproduction in auditorium is required
C. Separate FOH EQ (1/3 octave EQ)
D. CD Player required for performance source
E. DAT Player must be provided for performance backup source (DAT)
F. Audio System (including stage monitors) to be set up and operational prior to Company's arrival to theatre.
2. Stage Monitors
A. Cannot obstruct dancer or scenery entrances and exits
B. Two (2) monitors per side (2SRI2SL) preferred.
C. Monitor feed must be separate from FOH feed.
D. Separate monitor EQ required.
3. Audio Feed for Video
A. The Company may ask for an audio feed for video purposes. This feed should include both the FOH mix and audience reaction. Balanced line level signal preferred.

INTERCOM/MONITORS

1. Clear Com or comparable professional quality hard wired intercom from Stage Manager to all crew positions (SR, SL, Wardrobe, Lightboard Operator, Audio, FOH Staff)
2. Monitors of stage program for performers in dressing rooms, green room and associated spaces.
3. Ability for Company's Stage Manager to make performer calls to dressing rooms, green room and associated areas from Stage Manager calling position on stage.
4. Video monitor program for younger performers while not on stage is appreciated in dressing room/green room areas.

DRESSING ROOM REQUIREMENTS

1. 2 SAFE AND SECURE Principal dressing rooms (One for female and one for male), each capable of comfortably accommodating 4 performers each with showers and lavatory facilities not shared with the public or other dressing rooms.
2. 3 SAFE AND SECURE chorus style dressing rooms (two female and one male) to accommodate 40 young local performers (age ranges from 4 to 26),each with its own lavatory facilities not shared with the public or other dressing rooms.
3. Dressing rooms must have makeup mirrors, counters and sufficient lighting.

LAUNDRY FACILITIES

1. Due to the nature of this performance (many young children involved), it is imperative that laundry facilities be made available to local wardrobe personnel during this event.
2. Steamer required.
3. 1 iron and 1 ironing board required.

CREW REQUIREMENTS

1. Company would like the same crew for rehearsals and performances

PARKING

1. Safe and secure parking for one 24' non-articulated rental truck to be provided near loading dock for venue. Should local parking restrictions require rental truck to be parked away from venue shuttle arrangements may be necessary for driver.
2. Producer should make arrangements for parking spaces and permits for all company vehicles.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION FOR COMPANY

1. Local Producer to provide transportation to and from venue, accommodation, and other locations as necessary.
