Ms. Segev has also been the featured soloist with the Helsinki Philharmonic, Radio Symphony of Helsinki, Reutlingen Symphony, Dortmund Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Lyon, Bangkok Symphony, San Diego Orchestra and the Banff Orchestra. Her 1999 engagements include the American premiere of Arthur Sullivan's cello concerto and a performance of David Baker's cello concerto at Town Hall in New York City. A frequent guest with the Israel Philharmonic, she has performed with all the major orchestras in Israel, her native country, and has received America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships since the age of seven. Ms. Segev claimed top prizes at the Paulo International Competition in Helsinki and the Washington International Competition. She won the 1998 Juilliard Competition, which led to a performance of the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Juilliard Orchestra at Alice Tully Hall. Ms. Segev made her debut recital in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in 1997. Also active as a chamber musician, Ms. Segev has played at Bargemusic and participated in festivals in Banff, Ravinia, Sienna, Jerusalem, Rolandseck, Montpdlier and Caramoor. As a recitalist Ms. Segev has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Israel and has appeared in broadcast performances on Radio France, National Public Radio in Washington, "Kol Hamusica" in Jerusalem, The Myra Hess concert series in Chicago and Helsinki TV. Ms. Segev holds a Bachelor's degree from the Juilliard School, and a Master's Degree from Yale University. Her teachers include Bernard Greenhouse, Joel Krosnik, Harvey Shapiro, and Prof. Aldo Parisot. She plays on a Nicolo Gagliano cello, on loan by Mr. Klaus Voss through the generous efforts of the Stradivari Society of Chicago. Ms. Segev has just recorded a concerto comissioned for her by Max Schubel to be released by the "Opus One" label. | |
